Compelled to Grow
The 6 Keys to Spiritual Growth 2 of 2
You must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 3:18 (NLT)
Last week, we began our new fall sermon series “Compelled to Grow” by looking at 1-3 of the six keys for spiritual growth. Take a few moments to review them here:
Key 1 – Feeding on God’s Word (reading the Bible for Spiritual Growth)
Key 2 – Growing in God’s Grace (we are called to grow in both knowledge and grace)
Key 3 – Developing Godly Habits (Bible reading, prayer, worship, small groups)
Now, lets review and discuss the next 3 Keys to Spiritual Growth:
Key 4 – Growth comes when we help each other grow.
· Read Romans 1:12 – how can we help each other grow spiritually? Why are small groups an essential aspect of helping one another grow spiritually?
Key 5 – Growth comes when we expect to grow.
· Read Matthew 8:13 & 9:29 – what was the key element in these people receiving healing from Jesus? Why do we often lack faith that God can grow us?
Key 6 – Growth comes when we commit to grow.
· Jeremiah 29:13 in The Message translation reads, “You’ll find me when you get serious about finding me and want it more than anything else…” Are you serious about growing spiritually in the Lord? Are you will make the necessary commitments to grow spiritually?
As you close, I want to challenge you to make a commitment and declaration first to God and with one another to grow spiritually this fall. Spend time in prayer asking God to not allow anything knock you off your commitment to grow in Him and His Grace.
