Compelled to Tell – Lesson 2
The Dynamic Duo
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people… 1 Timothy 2:1
Do you have a favorite fast food combo meal or a favorite superhero duo? In our second lesson, we looked at God’s dynamic duo - the power of prayer and the power of the Holy Spirit in help us tell other about Jesus because we are Compelled to Tell!
1. Read John 14:15-17, 26 & 15:26-27. What does Jesus promise to give to His disciples? According to these passages, what benefits do we receive from the Holy Spirit?
2. Read Acts 4:23-31. What role did prayer have in unleashing the power of the Holy Spirit in this passage? Have you ever felt connected and empowered by the Holy Spirit through prayer?
3. How can you (and your group) pray for the boldness to share God’s Word in the way we read about in Acts 4:31?
As you close your time today, I want to challenge you to write and list specifically people you need to pray for today, people who need the Holy Spirit to soften their hearts:
I also want to challenge you to reach out to at least one person this week and invite them to church, or a small group meeting, ask them if they have a prayer request, or if they need a Bible or maybe, just maybe you’ll be empowered by God’s Spirit to ask them if they would like to become a Christian.
