Why Hope is Important

The three most important things to have are faith, hope and love.”1 Cor. 13:13 (NIRV)

1) “Those who forget God have no hope” (Job 8:13). Can you think of times in your own life when you felt like your hope was lacking? Were those also times in your life that you maybe “forgot” God?

2) The opposite of forgetting God is remembering God. I would suggest those who remember God have greater hope because God is the “source of hope” (Romans 15:13). Can you think of times in your life that you remembered / included God and discovered that your hope was great increased?

3) God promises His presence is always with us (read Psalm 32:8) and that He always has a purpose for us (read Jeremiah 29:11) and ultimately that He’s preparing a place for us (read 1 Peter 1:4-6). When we know we are not alone and that there is always purpose in everything we go through in this life, this should give us great hope. When you think of the promises of God, which ones give you “certain hope” (Hebrews 6:19)?

The Bible promised us that “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31 (NIV). Spend some time in prayer asking God to give you the hope to renew your strength and trust in Him.
