SET APART — Follow-up 02
Read alongside: Genesis 39:7–12; Colossians 3:17
Who are we when there is no audience to impress? The answer often takes shape in ordinary moments: the way we speak about someone who is absent, the honesty we bring to a task, or the choices we make when recognition is unlikely.
In Genesis 39, Joseph faced temptation away from public view. His response took God seriously. He understood that a hidden choice still mattered within his relationship with God. Whether another person would discover it was not the measure of what was right.
That connects with the reminder in Chad’s Corner: we belong to God, and our lives are called to reflect that belonging. The question Whose am I? can bring our attention back to the relationship shaping our decisions.
Colossians 3:17 extends that perspective into both words and actions. Faith belongs in everyday speech, work and relationships. The small, quiet decisions of a week deserve the same thoughtful attention as the moments when others can see us.
As a practical reflection, consider one ordinary part of your day. How might belonging to God shape the tone of a message, the care you give a responsibility, or the respect you show another person? Begin with one choice that is yours to make, and give it your thoughtful attention.
Private reflection does not require public disclosure. You can think honestly about a choice without explaining it in a comment thread. The aim of this follow-up is to carry Sunday’s theme into one concrete moment of everyday faithfulness. Let the reminder I belong to God accompany that moment today.
